GE-PON (Gigabit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network)
|
GE-PON is a transmission technology that utilizes fiber optics and shares 1Gbps transfer rate
between multiple lines. This technology is attracting attention as it enhances the transfer rates of high-speed Internet connection services by fiber optics while reducing the cost by sharing multiple lines.
GE-PON is standardized as IEEE802.3ah standard and is expected to be adopted by virtually all carriers who provide optical Internet services by 2005. |
